RSLC Announces New Round of Candidates in ‘2021 Virginia Candidate Spotlights’ Series
Washington, DC — The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) today announced a new round of candidates for its “2021 Virginia Spotlight Candidates” series. The RSLC is proud to support Republicans like these who are fighting to expand opportunity in Virginia and push back against the failed policies from Democrat-controlled Richmond.
The slate of candidates running for the House of Delegates demonstrate the RSLC’s commitment to expanding the future of the party with candidates that have deep ties to the communities they represent. Virginia’s Republican statewide ticket already includes an entrepreneur and political outsider candidate for governor, a Black Jamaican American and veteran candidate for lieutenant governor, and a Hispanic candidate for attorney general. It will be strengthened by the 23 women, 8 minorities, 20 veterans, 18 young Republicans, and 35 business owners running for the House of Delegates.
Rob Bell — House District 58 — @DelRBell
Delegate Rob Bell served as a state prosecutor in Orange County for five years, prosecuting more than 100 cases of domestic abuse. As a Delegate, he has passed critical laws to protect victims of domestic violence. Delegate Bell has worked to improve mental health care in Virginia, specifically supporting Virginia’s “bed of last resort” law to ensure that a bed at a state hospital is always available when a court has ordered treatment. Since his days as an Eagle Scout, he has been an active volunteer in his community. As a father and husband of a former teacher, he will continue working to provide quality education in public schools and provide parents more options by expanding school choice initiatives.
Matthew Fariss — House District 59
Delegate Matthew Fariss is a seventh generation Campbell County native and the co-owner and Vice President of the Lynchburg Livestock Market, which is the largest livestock market in Virginia. He has managed real estate, raised cattle, managed farms, and operated numerous businesses. Delegate Fariss has been a champion of policies that create jobs, cut red tape, fight tax increases, and support law enforcement. He’s a constituents-first delegate who will continue working to make their voices heard in Richmond.
Bill Wiley — House District 29 — @BillWileyVA
Delegate Bill Wiley first joined the Virginia House of Delegates in 2020. He serves as the Business Development Manager for Howard Shockey and Sons, Inc. and is an Associate Real Estate Broker at Oakcrest Commercial Real Estate. Delegate Wiley previously served for five years on the Winchester Planning Commission and was Chairman of the Commission for three years. In Richmond, he has opposed tax increases and is fighting to repeal those that have been implemented. He will continue pushing back against any attempts to defund law enforcement and ensure children are provided a quality education.
Kenneth Meteiver — House District 37 — @Kenny4House
Kenneth Meteiver is an Army Combat Engineer veteran, who served in the De-militarized Zone on North Korea’s border and Operation Iraqi Freedom. A few years after returning to the United States, Kenneth and his wife ventured to South Korea to teach English. Before he entered the Armed Forces, he ran track with Team USA representing our country overseas. Kenneth believes Virginia can and will be better with the right leadership. He’ll work with his colleagues to protect businesses from harmful policies, high taxes, and burdensome regulations. Kenneth will also fight alongside parents to keep politics out of the classroom.
Kim Taylor — House District 63 — @KimTaylor_VA
Kim Taylor is a Virginia native, small business owner, wife, and mother. As someone who attended Virginia’s public schools, she will fight for school choice, local control, and empower parents over teachers’ unions. She’s an avid supporter of lowering prescription drug costs, protecting those with pre-existing conditions, expanding telemedicine, and increasing transparency in health care. She believes keeping Virginia’s communities safe by investing in our law enforcement is essential to making Virginia the best state to live, work, and raise a family.
Christopher Stone — House District 13 — @CStone_VA
Christopher Stone served as an Air Force Officer and reserve for the National Guard. Christopher has led strategy and planning efforts supporting military commanders in the Pentagon, Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East in the Global War on Terror. He’s also served in the offices of US Senators and at the Department of State. Chris knows the importance of working across the aisle to put the needs of Virginians first. As Delegate, he’ll be a champion for veterans, support first responders, slash red tape, and promote innovative policies to restore the economy.
Chris Runion — House District 25 — @ChrisRunionVA
Delegate Chris Runion is a lifelong conservative Republican from the Shenandoah Valley. Delegate Runion is the President and owner of a small business, NFIB State Leadership Council Member, and Chairman of Shenandoah Valley Economic Education. He’s the former President of Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce, former Vice Chair of Rockingham County Republicans, and former Member and Chairman of Rockingham County Planning Commission. Delegate Runion has a proven record of successful leadership. He will work to bring fiscal responsibility to Richmond and make the commonwealth more business friendly.
Julie Perry — House District 86 — @Julie4House
Julie Perry is a Fairfax County teacher and a political outsider who wants to bring a fresh perspective to Richmond. As the daughter of an Air Force veteran, she understands the importance of supporting Virginia’s many Armed Forces members and veterans. As a teacher, she has seen first-hand the dangers of a heavily politicized education and will push back against any efforts to indoctrinate students. She will also be an advocate for the small business and law enforcement communities.
