RSLC Statement on Biden’s Huge Jobs Miss
“Thank Goodness for State Republicans”
In what CNBC called, “a huge disappointment,” the Department of Labor announced on Friday that the U.S. economy added 485,000 fewer jobs than expected in August. Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) President Dee Duncan issued the following statement responding to the dismal jobs report.
“Today’s episode in Joe Biden’s long series of disappointing economic reports should surprise no one. He’s promised Americans a return to normalcy, but has delivered nothing but socialist tax-and-spend policies that are causing inflation to skyrocket, stay-at-home payments that have resulted in devastating worker shortages, and an overtly political response to a public health crisis that has completely stalled our ability to move on from COVID-19. Thank goodness for state Republicans who are serving as the counterweight to Democrat-controlled Washington by passing pro-growth policies that get people back to work safely, mitigate the impact of inflation, and keep kids learning in schools.”
According to the Department of Labor’s most recent state-based data:
16 of the top 20 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic hit have Republican-controlled legislatures.
9 out of the 10 states with the lowest unemployment rates have Republican-controlled legislatures.
8 out of the 10 states with the highest unemployment rates have Democrat-controlled legislatures.
