RSLC Statement: Republicans Maintain Majorities in Georgia Legislature Despite National Democrats Targeting the Peach State

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republicans successfully maintained control of both chambers in the state legislature in Georgia.

“Congratulations to Georgia Republicans for maintaining control of both legislative chambers despite the targeted investments by national Democrat groups,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan. “The Republican-controlled legislature has been a testament to the importance of a last line of defense in the states. At a time when Democrats in Washington D.C. are passing a destructive agenda, Georgia Republicans have been pushing back and addressing the border crisis, cutting taxes and passing pro-business policies to cushion the blow of a failing economy. The RSLC was proud to have helped Georgia Republicans hold the line in this election. We look forward to their continued success while working with Governor Kemp to pass commonsense policies for all Georgians.”

Georgia was one of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee’s (DLCC) top target states this cycle, categorizing it as a state where they can “make gains and build power.” To combat the hefty investment from national outside groups that were eyeing one of our top targets this cycle, the RSLC ran independent expenditures, invested in direct contributions, and ran multiple paid media campaigns in Georgia’s legislative races.
