RSLC Statement: Republicans Fend Off Millions in Democrat Outside Spending to Maintain State Legislative Majorities in North Carolina
Washington, D.C. – Tonight, North Carolina Republicans fended off millions in Democrat outside spending to prevent Raleigh Democrats from overtaking the GOP House and Senate majorities. Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) President Dee Duncan issued the following statement following Republicans’ victory:
“National Democrats made it very clear at the beginning of this cycle that they would invest the necessary resources needed to overtake GOP majorities in Raleigh,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan. “Despite flooding the airwaves with millions of dollars in outside spending, state Republicans held the line and focused on the winning issues that matter to North Carolinians. Tonight's results are a testament to North Carolina Republicans’ ability to lead in Raleigh and deliver a reasonable path forward that will continue to grow the local economy and keep their constituents safe.”
The Republican State Leadership Committee designated the North Carolina House and Senate as a place for strong and meaningful growth at the beginning of this election cycle by engaging in the Tar Heel State earlier than ever before as part of the RSLC’s historic investment across 21 states.
The Democrat Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC), the States Project, and Forward Majority PAC committed to spend at least $175 million nationwide to upend GOP majorities.
