RSLC Statement on North Carolina Primary
Washington D.C.— Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) President Dee Duncan released the following statement in response to tonight’s primary results in North Carolina:
“North Carolina Republicans have chosen excellent nominees in state legislative races who will continue to hold the line against the failed agenda of Joe Biden and his Democrat allies in Raleigh, as well as strong nominees for state Supreme Court and Court of Appeals,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan. “The disastrous policies of Biden and D.C. Democrats have given Americans record high inflation and gas prices, but the conservative agenda that North Carolina’s Republican-led legislature has advanced is offsetting that damage and leading the Tar Heel state to recovery. The RSLC is committed to holding our state legislative majorities in North Carolina, as well as electing strong conservatives to the state Supreme Court that will stand up for the Constitution instead of drawing congressional maps from the bench.”
Background on RSLC In North Carolina
Earlier this year, the RSLC named the North Carolina legislature as a top defensive target for 2022.
A national battleground survey conducted by the RSLC earlier this year, which included North Carolina, found that 51% of voters prefer a Republican candidate who will act as a check and balance on President Biden and his Democratic policies compared to the 40% who would prefer a Democratic candidate who would support President Biden and his Democratic Policies.
The RSLC’s Judicial Fairness Initiative is pledging to spend record resources on state Supreme Court races in 2022 and has named North Carolina as a priority state.
The RSLC’s Judicial Fairness Initiative released a five-figure buy earlier this year that called on liberal Justice Sam Ervin to recuse himself from the redistricting case due to its potential to help his reelection campaign.
