RSLC Statement: Iowa Republicans Obtain Supermajority in House, Maintain Supermajority in Senate
Washington, D.C. – Iowa Republicans obtained a supermajority in the Iowa House and maintained their supermajority in the Senate, giving Republicans firm control of the statehouse in Des Moines.
“Iowans demonstrated tonight that the failures of Democrats in Washington, D.C. will not be replicated in Des Moines by obtaining a supermajority in the House while maintaining their supermajority in the Senate,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan. “Iowa Republicans will continue to fight for policies and initiatives that strengthen Iowa’s economy and allow business to thrive. The RSLC congratulates Iowa Republicans on their success, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow the conservative movement in Iowa.”
Earlier this year, the RSLC released a memo detailing the plan to strategically defend our Republican majorities with the Iowa House and Senate being listed as key targets.
