RSLC Releases Statement on Power Sharing Agreement Reached by Minnesota House

The Brokered Deal Establishes a Republican Speaker of The House for Two Years

Washington, D.C.  After three weeks of obstruction from Democrats, Minnesota state legislators have reached a power-sharing agreement, enabling the legislative session to begin with Republicans controlling the speakership for the next two years. Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) President Edith Jorge-Tuñón issued the following statement on the deal:

"Voters have made it clear they want Minnesota House Republicans to be a strong check on Tim Walz and his extreme liberal agenda. They are tired of the high taxes and rising violent crime they've experienced under Democrat control. Today's agreement is a decisive victory for Minnesotans, ensuring they get the representation they deserve. At the RSLC, we are incredibly proud our investment in flipping House seats last year has empowered Republicans to advocate for hardworking families. Congratulations to Speaker Lisa Demuth for achieving what many thought was impossible and standing strong against the progressive left's harmful agenda." -RSLC President Edith Jorge-Tuñón

Background

In the last election cycle, Minnesota was part of the RSLC’s historic $38 million early investment across 21 states. This funding supported powerful ad campaigns like the "Republican Roadmap," series which highlighted the harmful policies of Minnesota Democrats contributing to inflation and crime. The "Left’s Most Wanted" campaign also played a crucial role in defeating Minnesota House Democrat Jeff Brand in district 18A, emphasizing the need to promote our values and hold leadership accountable.
