Republican Legislative Campaign Committee (RLCC) Announces 2023 National Legislative Leadership
WASHINGTON, D.C. –– In 2022, the RSLC defied the odds by overcoming an onslaught of national liberal spending to net-gain 35 seats, secure seven new supermajorities and help Republicans maintain a hold on 58 of the 99 state legislative chambers across the country. The committee’s success was driven by Republican victories in legislative districts that were carried by Joe Biden, with Republicans winning 257 races in Biden districts in 2020. As it continues to build off of prior successes, the RSLC today announced the 2023 National Legislative Leadership for its largest caucus and only national organization devoted to electing Republican state legislative leaders -- the Republican Legislative Campaign Committee (RLCC).
“While state Republicans achieved tremendous success in 2022 due to winning in Biden districts across the country, last cycle provided us a wake-up call when it comes to the damage that the national liberal money machine can inflict on our GOP majorities,” said Pennsylvania House Republican Leader and RLCC Chairman Bryan Cutler. “We know state Democrats will be back as well-funded as ever this cycle, and in order to combat their advances we will need to have all hands on deck to fight back. I am pleased to be working with our fantastic executive committee, who are dedicated to helping state Republicans get elected across the country by pushing back on the Biden agenda.”
“Democrats know that the policies coming out of Joe Biden’s Washington have been devastating for the American people and that their only path to victory this cycle is to raise record resources to try to conceal their toxic positions,” said Virginia House Speaker and RLCC Vice Chair Todd Gilbert. “State Republicans are the last line of defense that can push back on the failed Joe Biden agenda, and if we want to retain our House majority and expand the map it’s going to require serious buy-in. I am excited to be working with this incredible group to achieve our goals and expand our majorities nationwide.”
“National Democrats demonstrated in 2022 that they will spend whatever it takes to win state legislative races to implement their radical left agenda,” said Michigan Senate Republican Leader and RLCC Finance Chair Aric Nesbit. “We’ve already seen firsthand in Michigan the harmful policy results of Democrat control and in order to push back we’ll need to have adequate resources to retake statehouses across the country. I am honored to be working with this executive team, and remain confident that we can build off of this committees prior success, in continuing to grow the future of the Republican Party in the states.”
