Pro-Defund the Police Organization Dumps $60 Million into State Legislative Races, Will Candidates Return Money?
The New York Times this morning reported that the far-left States Project, formerly known as Future Now Fund prior to when it rebranded under scrutiny in the fall of 2021, is spending $60 million to support Democrats in state legislative races in five key battleground states: Arizona, Maine, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. The $60 million quadruples the group's 2020 investment in state legislative races and comes after it previously promoted legislation to defund the police.
Every Democrat who takes the States Project's dollars should be asked a simple question -- do they support defunding the police or will they give back the money?
“Any Democrat accepting the States Project's support is embracing the radical defund the police movement that put a target on law enforcement's backs and created the biggest violent crime surge in 50 years.” - said RSLC Communications Director Andrew Romeo.
BACKGROUND
Future Now Fund (now the PAC for America’s Future) in 2021 endorsed a slew of Democrat candidates for Virginia’s House of Delegates and spent $710,000 in those races, prompting RSLC PAC to run television ads against many of those same candidates noting they had been endorsed by a group that had called to defund the police. Upon realizing how much of a liability their endorsement was to the Democrat House of Delegates candidates, Future Now / the States Project tried to change the narrative in an attempt to get television stations to pull the RSLC PAC's ads off the air. As the Virginia Scope noted in September of 2021, Future Now’s effort failed miserably and the ads stayed on air.
