Ag America Announces 2023 Executive Committee
WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Ag America, a caucus of the Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC), announced today its executive committee for 2023. Ag America is the only national organization committed to supporting and electing independently-elected agriculture officials in states across the country. The announcement follows an election cycle in which Republicans currently hold all 12 of the statewide independently elected agriculture offices for the first time in history, going seven for seven in statewide agriculture official races in 2022. The RSLC spent over $600,000 to support Wilton Simpson to help him flip Florida’s agriculture commissioner’s office from Democrat to Republicans last November, the last piece of the puzzle needed for all 12 elected agriculture official offices to be in Republican’s hands. In addition, the RSLC also backed Tyler Harper to win an open seat previously held by a Republican in Georgia.
The RSLC is focused on making sure all 12 elected agriculture official offices remain in Republican control as five of them are on the ballot in the 2023-2024 cycle. Three of these critical races are in 2023.
“Republicans holding all 12 of the statewide independently elected agriculture offices proves that voters trust Republicans to oversee their state’s agriculture industry and push back against President Biden’s radical policies that have been devastating for America’s farmers and ranchers,” said Ag America Chairman and West Virginia Agriculture Commissioner Kent Leonhardt. “I am honored to be Ag America’s chairman this year and am looking forward to continuing delivering results for ranchers, farmers, and agricultural producers nationwide.”
“We may hold all 12 elected agriculture official offices, but we can’t take our foot off the gas as Democrats are determined to flip these critical seats in the upcoming election cycle,” said Ag America Vice Chair and South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers. “Ag America fights every day for the agriculture community and we need to make sure these 12 offices remain in Republican hands to protect our farmers and ranchers from Biden’s failed agenda.”
