What They're Saying: "Nevada Democrats Could Lose It All in 2022”

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Nevadans on Tuesday will head to the polls to vote in primary elections, setting up what many are saying is going to be a big year for Republicans in the Silver State up and down the ballot. Under Democratic leadership, Nevadans currently have the second highest gas prices in the country, the second highest unemployment rate in the country, and ranks inside the top seven for highest rate of inflation in the country.

Since the Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) in March named Nevada as a state where Republicans can make meaningful gains in the state Legislature in 2022, the vulnerabilities of Nevada Democrats have been on full display in both Silver State and national media coverage. Here is just some of what they are saying:

***

Sabato’s Crystal Ball: “Democrats have built majorities in both chambers in Nevada, but 2022 will put them to the test”

CNN: “Republicans should be giddy about Nevada”

New York Times: “Democrats have long held up Nevada as a symbol of their future. But as the state’s economy struggles, it has become the epitome of the party’s midterm difficulties”

New York Magazine: “Nevada Democrats Could Lose It All in 2022”

Suffolk University: “Poll Shows Nevada Voters Signaling Shift To GOP”

The Nevada Independent: “Trend Continued in May of More Dems Switching to GOP”

Nevada Globe: “Nevada Democrats’ Edge Dwindles by Nearly 30,000 Voters Since Nov 2020”

Nevada Globe: “Nevada is on the move, but moving in the wrong direction. Under Democratic control at both the state and federal level, Nevada has the third highest gas prices in the nation and diesel, today, reached a record high at $5.51/gallon. Nevada also ranks as having one of the worst education systems in the country and inflation is hitting Nevada households the hardest.”
