RSLC Statement: Tyler Harper Wins Agriculture Commissioner’s Race in Georgia
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican Tyler Harper tonight defeated Democrat Charlie Bailey to become Georgia’s next Agriculture Commissioner. Harper’s win came in an open seat that was previously held by a Republican.
“Georgia elected a great leader tonight who will fight for farmers and help mitigate the damage from Joe Biden’s failed policies,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan. “Tyler’s understanding of the Peach State’s agriculture industry and record of results in Atlanta have him well-prepared to serve Georgians. We commend Tyler for running a strong campaign and are thrilled this critical open-seat will remain in Republican hands.”
The RSLC maxed out its general election contributions to Harper and supported him throughout the race.
Harper is a 7th generation South Georgia farmer who still uses his grandfather’s tractor on his family farm. He has a proven track record of fighting for Georgia farmers and producers as the Chair of the Agriculture Committee in the state Senate. Agriculture is Georgia’s largest industry and in uncertain economic times it is critical to have leaders like Tyler with the real-world experience and professional expertise to keep the Peach State’s economy humming.
