RSLC Launches Election Integrity Commission Web Page
One Stop Shop For Information On Effort To Make It Easier to Vote and Harder to Cheat
Washington, DC —The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) today launched a new web page, which will serve as a one-stop-shop for information about the efforts of the commission on election integrity it formed last month in conjunction state lawmakers and secretaries of state from across the nation to make it easier to vote and harder to cheat.
The commission is working to restore the confidence of the American people in their free and fair elections by convening leading policymakers to identify best practices through a sampling of legislation from all states that have proven their practicality and worth, embodying key principles that increase voter access and participation without sacrificing security, accountability, and transparency.
“Restoring confidence in our nation’s elections won’t happen overnight, but the RSLC’s Commission on Election Integrity has served as a fantastic hub of ideas for beginning the process,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan. “The common goal of making it easier to vote and harder to cheat is uniting our commission members, and we are excited to launch this new platform so that we can begin sharing our progress with the public in the coming weeks.”
Meeting weekly since early February, the commission is working to develop best practices drawn from legislation across the country that are in line with its five key principles.
1. Empowering states
2. Ensuring voter roll accuracy
3. Securing absentee/mail-in voting
4. Increasing transparency for in-person voting
5. Streamlining the canvassing process
Each commission meeting also includes updates from legislators and secretaries of state on the landscape of election laws in their respective states. Last Thursday, the commission heard from Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman, who discussed how mail-in and absentee voting can be done effectively if proper safeguards like signature verification are put in place to ensure their accuracy.
