RSLC ANNOUNCES NEW ROUND OF CANDIDATES IN ‘2021 VIRGINIA CANDIDATE SPOTLIGHTS’ SERIES

Washington, DC — The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) today announced a new round of candidates for its “2021 Virginia Spotlight Candidates” series. The RSLC is proud to support Republicans like these who are fighting to expand opportunity in Virginia and push back against the failed policies from Democrat-controlled Richmond.

The slate of candidates running for the House of Delegates demonstrate the RSLC’s commitment to expanding the future of the party with candidates that have deep ties to the communities they represent. Virginia’s Republican statewide ticket already includes an entrepreneur and political outsider candidate for governor, a Black Jamaican American and veteran candidate for lieutenant governor, and a Hispanic candidate for attorney general. It will be strengthened by the 23 women, 8 minorities, 20 veterans, 18 young Republicans, and 35 business owners running for the House of Delegates.

Nick Clemente — Virginia House District 10 — @clemente4va

Nick Clemente was born and raised in Northern Virginia. He works for the Virginia Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors. He has served as the Membership Director for the Virginia chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors since 2018, helping many small businesses find ways to thrive in a struggling economy. During his time on the Leesburg planning Commission, Nick fought for small businesses and advocated for job creation. Nick has also been a member of the Potomac Valley Officiating Association, working youth basketball and softball games. In Richmond, Nick will champion mental health awareness and work to bring in more funding for mental health solutions in Virginia, work with businesses to help them recover from the pandemic, and ensure law enforcement is well trained and properly funded. 

Ronnie Campbell — Virginia House District 24 — @RonnieCVa

Ronnie Campbell served 25 years with the Virginia State Police. He also served on the Rockbridge County School Board for 10 years, 5 of which as the chairman. Ronnie has been the South River District Representative on the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors since 2012. He’s a member of various committees and boards, such as RANA, the Virginia Horse Center, the Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Board, Solid Waste, and the Personnel Policy Committee. Ronnie’s is a proven leader with a desire to serve his community. He knows farmers are the backbone of our economy and will work to support rural communities and improve Virginia’s infrastructure.

Tara Durant — Virginia House District 28 — @Durant4Delegate

Tara Durant is a mother, teacher, Marine wife, and cancer survivor. An educator committed to her community, Tara has been an active member of the Board of the Fredericksburg Area Service League, PTO Board, the Citizens Review Panel with United Way, and Habitat for Humanity. Tara was motivated to seek public office after a tense encounter with rioters last summer. As a military spouse, she understands the importance of our service members and law enforcement officers. Tara will work to provide a more quality education for students with higher standards, ensure law enforcement is supported, and revitalize the small businesses across the state.

Mark Earley Jr. — Virginia House District 68 — @earley4delegate

Mark Earley, Jr. is a husband, father, foster-parent, and attorney. He served in Governor McDonnell’s administration, focusing on the improvement of Virginia’s efforts to help countless individuals successfully re-enter society and work to better their lives. Mark and his wife have been foster parents for over two years, caring for four foster children in that time. Mark is a proven leader with a record of fighting for Virginia values. Mark will work to bring balance and principles back to Richmond so that families, businesses, and communities can prosper.
