Republican Jean Stanfield Flips LD-8
Umba, Torrissi Jr, Hold District’s Assembly Seats
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Republican Jean Stanfield defeated Democrat state Senator Dawn Addiego, flipping New Jersey Legislative District 8 back into Republican hands. Addiego had previously been a Republican, but switched parties in order to try to salvage her failed political career.
Stanfield was also part of the RSLC’s “Right Leaders Network,” the committee’s recently announced initiative to enhance its efforts to support more women and minority candidates in state races to help grow the Republican Party from the ground up.
“Congratulations to Jean Stanfield on running a fantastic campaign and flipping this key district,” said RSLC Deputy Executive Director Edith Jorge-Tuñón. “While Trenton Democrats have continued to sell out to the radical left, Jean will be a fighter for commonsense conservative values and will put New Jerseyans first. We are proud to have led a strong independent expenditure effort in support of Jean’s candidacy and look forward to her leadership.”
The RSLC ran independent expenditures in support of Stanfield that included digital ads, mail, texting, and robocalls.
Stanfield’s win also helped propel Brandon Umba and Mike Torrissi Jr to victory, as Republicans retained control of both Assembly seats in LD-8.
