Outspent Nearly 3:1, Republicans Overcome Historic Loss at Top of Ticket and Prevent Democrats from Obtaining a Supermajority in House of Delegates
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Despite being outspent nearly 3:1, Virginia Republicans tonight overcame a historic loss at the top of the ticket and prevented Democrats from obtaining a supermajority in the House of Delegates. Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) President Edith Jorge-Tuñón issued the following statement on tonight’s results:
“We always knew that Virginia’s elections were going to be incredibly difficult, but we are proud of the way Republican candidates across the Commonwealth fought to ensure that Abigail Spanberger doesn’t begin her tenure with a supermajority in the House of Delegates. We are also proud of the work the RSLC PAC did to assist them in their efforts. The committee’s targeted early investments, data-oriented turnout operation, and focus on hyperlocal messaging helped us overcome a 3:1 spending disadvantage and a historic defeat at the top of the ticket that mitigated further losses down ballot. We remain committed to supporting Richmond Republicans as they fight each day to ensure Virginia does not become the next California or New York and continue to promote policies that make the commonwealth a safer and more affordable place to live and raise a family.”
