Republican State Legislative Candidates Ahead on Generic Ballot in Colorado

Following a national battleground poll released last week showing Biden is a drag on state legislative candidates across the country, the Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) today released results from a separate, more extensive survey in Colorado. 

A new Cygnal survey found that in Colorado, 

• Republican state legislative candidates are ahead on the generic ballot 44-43, a big change from past cycles.
• President Biden’s image rating stands at a dismal 42%-56%, a remarkable shift given he won the state with over 55% of the vote in 2020.
• Only 33% of voters want the state legislature to support Washington’s policies compared to 48%who want the state legislature to push back on Washington.

“Coloradans are sick and tired of the policies coming out of Democrat-controlled Washington,” said RSLC Deputy Communications Director Mason Di Palma. “At a time where Coloradans are spending more and making less, state Democrats are in lockstep with the harmful tax and spend agenda of President Biden and Washington Democrats. Colorado Democrats refuse to stand up for their constituents and are more concerned with backing a failing president than working with Republicans in the state legislature to improve the state’s future.” 

Background 

Last week the RSLC released a national battleground survey (also conducted by Cygnal)  that showed that the radical liberal agenda being pursued by President Biden and his allies in Washington, D.C. is sinking Democrats at the state legislative level in a number of key battleground states across the country. Colorado was one of the states that was polled. The findings garnered significant national attention from:
