Release: RSLC Declares Victory on Election Night

Washington D.C. – Tonight, the Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) is on track to flip the Michigan House, break out of a Democrat trifecta in the Minnesota House, maintain control of the Pennsylvania Senate, and while we’re still fighting for the majority in the Pennsylvania House, it is evident that Republicans up-and-down the ballot were the clear winners in this election nationwide. Despite being outspent by national outside liberal groups who flooded the states with an onslaught of over $175 million between the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC), the States Project, and Forward Majority PAC alone, the RSLC’s early in-state engagement coupled with the $44 million invested in critical battleground states nationwide were able to overcome the financial disparity to achieve a historic victory. 

“Tonight, the American people delivered a resounding message: they want principled, conservative leadership at every level of government,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan. “From President Trump’s decisive victory at the top of the ticket to down-ballot state Republicans across the country, voters have embraced Republican candidates and their policies to revive the economy, make our communities safer, and combat illegal immigration. The RSLC is especially proud of the incredible victories in down-ballot state races across the country, including in Michigan and Pennsylvania where our Absentee Ballot and Early Voting programs made all the difference. With Republicans successfully defending and expanding their majorities in state legislative chambers nationwide, we are well-positioned to advance conservative policies in the states that will impact communities for years to come.” 

While tonight’s results are a clear signal of the American people’s desire for Republican leadership, we know that the Democrats will come back even stronger than ever before next year, with even more money and resources to attempt to retake legislative chambers. The fight to stop them begins tonight and we are fully ready to meet the challenge.

• The RSLC announced its legislative targets in January 2024. 
• The DLCC’s legislative targets in 2024 included states like Arizona and New Hampshire, where Republicans successfully defended their majorities this evening. 
• In March, an RSLC memo highlighted the top issues that Republicans could use to effectively message to voters in battleground states, and warned against making their campaigns a referendum on Joe Biden alone.
• In March, the RSLC announced an eight-figure mail-in voting program in Pennsylvania, which effectively chipped away at the Democrats’ vote-by-mail advantage compared to 2020.
• In April, the RSLC launched its “Republican Roadmap” ad series to put state Democrats on defense on the top issues that ultimately defined the election, proving in states like Arizona and Wisconsin that Republicans are trusted to handle key issues like the economy and the border by voters.
• In June, the RSLC brought its absentee ballot and early voting program to Michigan, in an effort to target low propensity voters.
• Later in June, the RSLC announced its $38 million plan for the battle to control the majority of state legislatures in 2024.
• When Joe Biden exited the presidential election in July, the RSLC released a memo instructing state Republican candidates to stay the course and keep the focus of their campaigns on state level issues.
• In September upon completion of primaries nationwide, the RSLC announced its ‘Right Leaders Network’ spotlight candidates. 
• During the final weeks of the election, the RSLC announced its ‘Left’s Most Wanted’ campaign targeting vulnerable Democrats in battleground states including Arizona, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin.
