State Republican Committee and policy partner raise a combined $19 million in 2019
Democrat group buoyed by Obama, Holder, Clinton, and Soros remain poised to outraise Republicans’ record-breaking report
WASHINGTON – The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) and its strategic policy partner, the State Government Leadership Foundation (SGLF), announced this morning that the groups have raised a combined $19 million in 2019, an odd-year record for the organizations. The extraordinary success is a sign of significant strength for the Republican Party ahead of the once-in-a-decade election cycle in 2020 when state elections across the country will help determine state and congressional majorities for the next ten years. Still, Republicans are expected to be outraised in 2019 by Democrat groups receiving unprecedented support from Barack Obama, Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton, and liberal billionaires like George Soros.
“The RSLC is starting the 2020 election cycle in an excellent position, but we know our opponents remain backed by an elite class of liberal activists and leftist billionaires who understand the high stakes of next year’s elections,” said RSLC National Finance Chairman Ron Weiser. “That means our work to support Republican leaders in the states who will protect the fairness and accuracy of the redistricting process has never been more important. While 2019 proved to be a phenomenal year for Republicans, winning elections up-and-down the ballot in states across the country — from Mississippi all the way to deep blue New Jersey — it’s critical that we carry over into the new year that same energy and enthusiasm. Our country is counting on it.”
“The outcomes of 2020 state elections will shape the future of our nation for the next decade – and it’s up to our team to make sure state Republicans have the resources they need to win where it matters most,” said RSLC President Austin Chambers. “We are exceptionally proud to have earned unprecedented support from our members and principled individuals, all of whom know that 2020 isn’t politics as usual. It’s something that we’ve never seen before. A former president, a former Democratic presidential nominee, a former attorney general, and a who’s-who of left-wing billionaires all working together to defeat state Republicans at the ballot-box and usher-in a new era of radical socialism. The RSLC is leading the fight to stop them – we’re going to have what it takes to win.”
In December 2019, the RSLC announced that former U.S. House Speakers Paul Ryan, John Boehner, and Newt Gingrich joined the committee to form and lead a Speakers Advisory Council that would provide critical support to the RSLC’s Right Lines 2020 initiative to protect Republican legislative majorities in the states. Expert, public estimates have predicted that the results in as few as 42 state legislative seats could determine as much as a 136-seat swing in the U.S. House of Representatives for the next ten years. With such a drastic potential swing at stake, the RSLC will help to lead the Republican Party’s unified efforts on redistricting by supporting Republicans in key states where holding legislative majorities matters most. This includes key presidential battleground states like: Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Texas, and Wisconsin.
