Republican State Leadership Committee Congratulates Senator-Elect Annette Sweeney

WASHINGTON, DC (April 10, 2018) – Following tonight’s victory by former Representative Annette Sweeney in Iowa’s 25th Senate District, Republican State Leadership Committee President Matt Walter issued the following statement:

“Republicans won their 20th special election this year tonight with the victory of Representative Annette Sweeney in Iowa’s 25th Senate District. Tonight’s victory highlights how Republicans are maintaining their historical high level of total control of twenty-six states, and the importance of Iowa in that success.  Congratulations to Senator-Elect Sweeney and Senate Majority Leader Jack Whitver for their hard work in this victory.”

The RSLC recently invested $10,000 with the Iowa Senate Republican Caucus and named Iowa Speaker of the House Linda Upmeyer as Chairwoman of the Republican Legislative Campaign Committee for 2018.

About the RSLC

The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) is the largest caucus of Republican state leaders in the country and the only national organization whose mission is to elect Republicans to multiple down-ballot, state-level offices. Since 2002, the RSLC has been working to elect candidates to the offices of lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state legislator, the judiciary and other down-ticket races. After Election Night 2017, state-level Republicans maintain 67 of 99 legislative chamber majorities in red, purple and blue states, hold 31 lieutenant governor seats, and control 30 secretaries of state offices.
