WASHINGTON – The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) released the following statement congratulating new House Speaker Bob Cupp for being elected to lead the Ohio House of Representatives on Thursday:
“Speaker Cupp has committed his life’s work to serving the Buckeye State with integrity, and we are proud to see him take the lead to restore honor to the Ohio House,” said Austin Chambers, RSLC President. “He emulates the steady leadership needed to regain the trust of Ohioans, and we look forward to working with Speaker Cupp to hold our Republican majorities in the state.”
Speaker Bob Cupp is uniquely qualified to lead Ohio and has had a long history of serving the Buckeye State in various capacities. He served twice as the Allen County Commissioner, a state Senator with four years as Senate President Pro Tempore, a Court of Appeals judge for the 3rd District, and the 151st Justice of the Supreme Court. Speaker Cupp was named “Legislator of the Year” multiple times and has taught several courses at Ohio Northern University. Growing up on his family’s farm in rural Allen County, Speaker Cupp fully understands the needs of the people of the 4th District and Ohioans alike.
The RSLC named Ohio as a top priority target and redistricting battleground ahead of the November elections and identified an offensive strategy to flip seven Democrat-held districts won by Donald Trump in 2016.
