Chatfield joins Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma as co-chair of committee

WASHINGTON – The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) released the following statement announcing Michigan Speaker Lee Chatfield as co-chair of the Republican Legislative Campaign Committee (RLCC), a caucus of the RSLC:

“In a state where Democrat leadership is failing the very people it purports to serve, Speaker Lee Chatfield is working around the clock to restore sanity in Michigan,” said Austin Chambers, RSLC President. “Speaker Chatfield leads by example – and that is why he is a great choice to lead the RLCC to victory. Everything is on the line this election cycle, and we remain laser-focused on supporting Republican candidates and raising the resources required to win in November.”

“Radical, liberal organizations are trying to flip legislatures and take our country in the wrong direction,” added Michigan Speaker of the House and RLCC Co-Chair, Lee Chatfield. “Meanwhile, Republican state leadership is having a tremendous positive impact in the states where we have the majority. No amount of liberal spending will stop Republicans from doing everything we can to win up-and-down the ballot this November.”

Speaker Chatfield is the youngest Michigan Speaker in more than 100 years and currently the youngest serving in the country. He was first elected to serve the 107th District in the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2014. Chatfield previously served as the co-vice chairman of the RLCC Executive Committee. He was born and raised in Northern Michigan and is a high school graduate of Northern Michigan Christian Academy. He married his high school sweetheart Stephanie in 2008 and they live in Levering with their five children—four sons and a daughter.

Last week, Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma retired after dutifully serving Indiana for more than 34 years. Bosma has been the longest-serving speaker in state history, and remains a key partner to the RSLC in the two decades since its inception. The RSLC is proud to have Speakers Bosma and Chatfield at the helm for Republican legislative leaders across the country.
