RSLC Statement on State of the Union Address

Washington D.C. (January 20, 2015) – Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) President Matt Walter issued the following statement in response to the President’s State of the Union Address:

“It’s good that Obama is finally talking about the economy.  The glaring difference is Republicans want to grow America’s economy while the President wants to grow Washington’s economy.”

“Voters want a fresh approach with an open economy that grows naturally, organically and bottom-up, not the old, top-down way. Republicans in the states know that’s the best way to grow our economy.”

“Joni Ernst was right in her response.  She understands the real challenges, needs and opportunities for all of America’s families and businesses because of her experience as a state legislator. She’s fought on the front lines and has been successful in saving taxpayer money and creating economic growth.”

“Obama continues to lead an outdated Democratic Party that divides people by class for political gain.  By contrast, Republicans are working to unite the country around the belief that every American matters.  Everyone should have a shot at improving their life.  Everyone should have the right to dream big dreams about better days, from those are doing well to those who want to do well.”
