Republican State Leadership Committee Announces “17 in ’17: Races to Watch” List

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 17th, 2017) – Today, the Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) debuted its “17 in ’17: Races to Watch.” Comprised of the RSLC’s Future Majority Project (FMP) and Right Women, Right Now (RWRN) candidates who ran or are running for state-level offices around the country this year, the list recognizes rising stars who will champion common-sense policies and who better represent the full diversity of our electorate. The RSLC’s FMP and RWRN initiatives both aim to identify, recruit, and support new diverse and female candidates at the state level.

This year’s list includes candidates on the ballot this November in legislative races in New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington as well as Republican legislators who were already successfully elected in special elections held earlier this year.

“Since 2011, the FMP and RWRN initiatives have proved tremendously successful in building up the next set of Republican state legislators. This year’s candidates on our “17 in ’17: Races to Watch” list embody the types of candidates we were hoping to support when we first began the FMP and RWRN initiatives in 2011. We have had a great group of legislators already elected to office this year and we look forward to seeing the success of the rest of these candidates come November.”
