RSLC President Matt Walter was quoted in a story about increased focus by national Democratic groups on state legislative races. The story noted the increased level of spending by Democratic groups on special elections in 2017 to which Walter said, “The results they have gotten, based on that financial increase, really are not that impressive.” The article also appeared at the top of Drudge Report for most of Tuesday morning.

The State Government Leadership Foundation, the strategic policy partner of the RSLC, released a statement on Tuesday criticizing three “conservative” Democratic state Senators from Connecticut over their support for Governor Dan Malloy’s backroom deal with state union bosses. The backroom deal negotiated by the unions would lock in state employee union contracts for years and does little to fix Connecticut’s budget woes.

Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Todd Lamb posted an impressive fundraising haul in his quest to become Oklahoma’s next Governor. The  Tulsa World reported that Lamb has just under $2 million in his campaign account placing him far ahead of all other Republican and Democratic challengers. Lamb currently is on the RLGA’s Executive Committee and is serving his second term as Oklahoma’s Lieutenant Governor.

Kansas Lieutenant Governor Jeff Colyer told local media that he intends “to change the tone of Topeka” when he becomes Governor once Sam Brownback is confirmed by the US Senate. He additionally described Brownback as a friend but stated “I’m my own man,” when asked about how his governing strategy will compare to Brownback’s time in office.
