RSLC Touts Success of Republican Women and Minority State Legislative Candidates in 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) today touted the success of its Right Leaders Network (RLN), an effort launched by the committee in October of 2021 to grow the Republican Party from the ground up by recruiting, training, and electing more women and diverse candidates to state office. The program’s nearly $6 million record investment this cycle helped lead our candidates to historic wins across the country, further driving home the goal of growing the future of the Republican Party.
“In what has been a historic year for State Republicans, the RSLC’s ‘Right Leaders Network’ played a major role in electing women and diverse candidates who were crucial in expanding our majorities and flipping legislative chambers in states like Michigan,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan. “We are proud to have invested nearly $6 million this cycle on recruitment, training and supporting our diverse candidates to build the future of the Republican Party and look forward to further expanding our program to deliver strong results in the future.”
BACKGROUND
The RSLC spent nearly $6 million on RLN candidates in 2024 and achieved tremendous results.
This year, there were 1,110 victories by women, minority, or veteran candidates across the country
61% of supported RLN candidates won their races.
There were 80 flips achieved by RLN candidates across the country
Some of these historic wins generated by the Right Leader’s Network are as followed:
In Texas HD-34, Denise Villalobos secured an upset against Democrat incumbent Solomon Ortiz.
Villalobos was spotlighted by the Right Leaders Network in September and was featured in Spectrum News 1 Texas.
In New York AD-16 veteran Daniel Norber was the first Republican to win the seat in 50 years.
In South Dakota, a record number of women will serve in the legislature.
Launched in the fall of 2021, the Right Leaders Network is the expansion of the RSLC’s long-standing efforts to grow the future of the Republican Party. Through the RSLC’s Right Women Right Now and Future Majority Project initiatives, the committee over the past decade has recruited, trained, supported, and elected thousands of diverse state Republicans across the country, many of whom went on to serve in statewide and federal offices. The Right Leaders Network is both enhancing and growing the committee’s recruiting and training capabilities and allowing for:
Prioritizing electing more women, as well as candidates from communities of color and diverse backgrounds.
Engaging former state leaders, who now hold high federal or state office, to serve as mentors for the next generation of Republican leaders.
Growing partnerships with aligned Republican organizations who share the same mission.
